Currently, I am a postdoctoral research fellow for the ERC-Consolidator project POPCLIMA – Population Dynamics under Global Climate Change, at the Department of Statistical Sciences “Paolo Fortunati” of the University of Bologna. Previously, I was a postdoctoral research fellow for the PRIN-Research Project of National Relevance “SOcial and health Frailty as determinants of Inequality in Aging (SOFIA)” at the same Department.
As of October 2024, I am an Academic Visitor at the Department of Demography and Social Statistics of the University of Southampton.
I hold a Ph.D. in Political and Social Sciences awarded by the European University Institute (EUI). In my doctoral dissertation, I explored how individuals other than the mother can affect child health and survival in Sub-Saharan Africa. Specifically, I investigated the role of three factors, namely women’s community-level education, the presence of the grandmother within the household, and the paternal educational level.
Between January and March 2022, I have been an Academic Visitor at the Department of Sociology of the University of Oxford.
I hold a MA in International Relations from the University of Bologna and a BA in Economic Development and International Cooperation from the University of Palermo.
